Album Notes Original score composed by Mychael Danna. This soundtrack to director Don Roos' romantic comedy (read: chick flick) is as oddly chilly as the film's premise--a guy who just misses being killed in a plane crash falls for the widow of the guy to whom he gave his ticket, and who was subsequently killed in the crash. The obligatory lush Diane Warren power ballad, in this case "Need to Be Next to You," is sung here by waif-voiced Leigh Nash of Sixpence None The Richer with considerably less histrionics than you might expect. In fact, the overall tone of the rest of the songs here--including Sara McLachlan's "Delirium," which suggests a pop version of Gregorian chant, and Carly Simon's slightly sinister sounding "Our Affair"--is ambiguous; it's hard to imagine any of them being played over the closing credits to reinforce a happy ending.
