The BLONDE AND BEYOND collection contains a number of rare studio and live tracks, four of which are previously unreleased. Eight other tracks are now available on CD for the first time. BLONDE AND BEYOND also includes rare photos, extensive liner notes and a complete discography on Blondie.
Probably one of the best and certainly the most interesting of the many Blondie anthologies, BLONDE AND BEYOND does an excellent job of gathering the loose ends of the band's career. Like a lot of late '70s punk and new wave bands, Blondie had an instinctive fondness for the seven-inch single, and they continued the pop tradition of releasing both non-album B-sides and the occasional unique rarity.
The B-sides collected here are mostly excellent, with the reeling "Suzie and Jeffrey" a particular standout. The rest of the disc collects some of the odder Blondie releases, like a French version of the classic "Sunday Girl" and a Spanish take on "Call Me," along with demos and alternate mixes. The disc ends with three intriguing live covers: Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire," Marc Bolan's "Bang A Gong," and David Bowie's "Heroes." Essential for Blondie fans.
