Movie Description At the outbreak of the Civil War, a Texas rancher and his blood-brother, a slave he freed, try to fend off attacks by two Native American tribes trying to drive all the settlers off their land.
Synopsis In this revisionist Western, set during the Civil War, a group of women and children are kidnapped and it's up to a courageous black pioneer to save them.
Because the women's husbands are off fighting as part of the Union Army, the pioneer -- a former slave -- is their only hope. And he puts aside the prejudice that has been directed at him in the past to take on this heroic quest.
He receives some much-needed help from his childhood friend -- the onetime plantation owner who freed him from slavery.
