BING--HIS LEGENDARY YEARS contains 101 tracks including the studio outtakes of "Wrap Your Troubles In Dreams" and "I'll Be Seeing You" and the previously unreleased "Song Of The Fifth Marines." The set includes a 68-page booklet with rare photos and an extensive essay by New York Times critic Will Friedwald.
This superb, five-disc box set collects Bing Crosby's best recordings from across nearly 30 years. While Crosby began to edge toward a comfortable if likeable caricature of himself in the 1960s, these recordings reveal an artist with impeccable musical instincts. Crosby's sense of swing is subtle and spot-on, his phrasing is stylish, nuanced, and intimate, and the warm timbre of his rich, resonant baritone is enough to melt even the iciest heart. Crosby's best-known tunes are here, sure, including "White Christmas" and popular show tunes, but there is plenty of lesser-known, superior material to treasure. Beautifully assembled and packaged, BING is a definitive slice of one of pop music's greatest singers.
