Producer Ant Banks recruits a plethora of all-star rap talent for this album that includes Ice Cube, Too $hort, and 2Pac Shakur. It seems every rapper worth his salt was eager to appear on Banks' project. Ice T could not make it to the studio, but the listener hears him calling from a cellular phone in the Mediterranean while shooting craps (what a playa). Many of the cuts contain hard-core rapping coupled with R&B background vocals. Several tracks on BIG THANGS have rappers paired off with each other for a double dose of rhyming. This technique occasionally proffers disjointed results, but overall, the various rappers give seamless performances that make this album a big thang.
