Synopsis
Away from her city routine, eleven-year-old S.B. gets caught up in a new friend's story of magic and intrigue, and learns to view life differently., While her father travels through Europe, 11-year-old S.B. is left to spend the summer with her cousin Brenda. S.B. is unhappy with the arrangement until she meets Brenda's unusual neighbor, a girl about her age named Cally. Soon S.B. is pulled into a mysterious fantasy game Cally plays, a game that parallels a neighborhood conflict between a wealthy landowner and a peculiar naturalist. Through playing the game, S.B. is able to come to terms with her own mother's death.
