Album Notes
This best-of contains a nice assortment of late-period Louis Armstrong pop vocal sides, including two of his biggest latter-day hits, 1964's "Hello Dolly," and his swan song, 1968's "What a Wonderful World." His trumpet solo on "La Vie En Rose" combines mature technical mastery with a wonderful melancholy, and he also demonstrates that you don't necessarily need a mellifluous voice to sing romantic songs with his engaging version of "Moon River."
