Movie Description An unorthodox coach and a trainer work together to teach a competition team of kickboxers that winning is not just a sometime thing and that a team is not a team if you don't care about one another.
Synopsis The US national team travels to South Korea to compete in an international martial arts competition. Once there, a brash young member of the American squad goes out seeking revenge against the Korean champ who killed his brother in a previous match. Another member of the American team has entered the competition while still recovering from a shoulder injury, and he becomes dangerously distracted when his five-year-old son falls seriously ill.
With this splintering of the squad's effort, a US win is in serious doubt. Will they recover in time to taste victory?
Film Notes Color by CFI. Locations shot in Southern California and Seoul, South Korea, for an estimated budget of $5 million.
Directorial debut for Robert Radler.
Newcomer Phillip Rhee -- formerly a Korean martial arts instructor -- co-produced the film, collaborated on the original story, and plays the part of "Tommy" a revenge-minded young fighter on the American team. Rhee holds a fifth degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a third degree black belt in Hapki Do. He was also a member of the 1980 USA Olympic Team.
Actor Chris Penn has participated in five professional fights as a boxer and a kickboxer.
