Martin and Lewis get their first star billing in this hilarious song- and gag-filled comedy. The duo play Puccinelli and Korwin, pals who join the army and immediately get into a load of trouble on a military training base. Highlights include a sequence involving a non-cooperative soda machine, Jerry Lewis performing "The Navy Gets the Gravy But the Army Gets the Beans," and the team's impersonation of the Bing Crosby-Barry Fitzgerald characters from the classic film "Going My Way."
Synopsis
Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis had their first star billing in this hilarious song and gag-filled comedy. The comic couple play Puccinelli and Korwin -- pals who join the army and get into a load of trouble on a military training base. While Puccinelli becomes a first sergeant, his buddy can't rise above the status of private because of his constant bumbling.
Amid the clowning, Puccinelli tries to win over a beautiful young woman named Helen.
The film's funny highlights include a sequence involving a non-cooperative soda machine, Jerry Lewis performing "The Navy Gets the Gravy But the Army Gets the Beans," and the team's impersonation of the Bing Crosby-Barry Fitzgerald characters from the classic film "Going My Way."

This was the first film in which Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis had starring roles.
"At War with the Army" was produced independently but Paramount Pictures released it.
