Album Notes Evanescence: Amy Lee (vocals); Terry Balsalmo, Johnny LeCompt (guitar); William Boyd (electric bass); Rocky Gray (drums). In 2003, Evanescence scored a surprise hit with FALLEN by combining an intensely heavy, nu-metal sound with old-school goth visual/lyrical elements, and the quasi-operatic vocals of lead singer Amy Lee. The CD/DVD set ANYWHERE BUT HOME documents the band's non-stop touring schedule with in-concert takes on nine of FALLEN's 10 songs. In addition, the release includes a soaring, piano-based cover of Korn's 2002 hit "Thoughtless," and "Missing," a newly recorded studio effort that features moody vocals, dance beats, and a glockenspiel! Most tracks stick fairly close to their studio counterparts, but benefit from the added bombast, drama, and crowd interaction that a live recording affords. Of course, as on Evanescence's debut, the main attraction is Lee's voice, which is in fine form here--the singer belts out every word to the wildly enthusiastic Paris, France crowd with a mix of alt-rock melancholy and hard-rock power.
