This double CD set features the work of some of Jamaica's most accomplished musicians, who recorded together in the mid 1960s under the general moniker of the Skatalites. Performers such as the trombonist Don Drummond, the saxophonist Tommy McCook, and the trumpeter Baba Brooks perform freewheeling, irresistibly danceable classics such as "Lucky Seven," "Strolling In," and "Latin Goes Ska," in the offbeat island rhythm that was the precursor to bluebeat, reggae, and dancehall.
