Album Notes
ANTHOLOGY is a definitive overview of the Miracles' work, from their 1958 debut, "Got a Job," Smokey Robinson's canny answer to the Silhouettes' "Get a Job," through 1972's live version of "Going to a Go Go," one of the few tracks here that isn't presented in glorious monaural sound. All the hits are featured here, of course, plus a couple of rarities and previously unreleased tracks.
Two songs, "My Heart Says Yes" and " A Love That Can Never Be," feature vocals by members of the group besides Smokey--his wife Claudette Robinson, a mainstay of the group in the early days, and tenor Ronnie White, respectively. If you're not ready to take the plunge for the Miracles' four-disc 30th anniversary box set, ANTHOLOGY is definitely the package to get.
