Album Notes The Jackson Five/The Jacksons: Michael Jackson, Tito Jackson, Jermaine Jackson, Marlon Jackson, Jackie Jackson, Randy Jackson. Producers include: The Corporation, Hal Davis, George Gordy, Jerry Marcellino, Deke Richards. Compilation producer: Harvey Weinger. Recorded between 1969 & 1976. Includes liner notes by David Ritz. Digitally remastered by Jeff Willens (Universal Mastering Studios East). The Jackson 5 kicked off the '70s representing Motown's next generation by scoring a record-setting four consecutive Number One singles. In the process they also blew the doors open for future boy bands, including the Osmonds, New Edition, and millennial 800-pound gorillas Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync. The two-disc ANTHOLOGY is newly remastered and recompiled and includes all charting hits, important B-sides and a number of tracks previously unavailable on CD. Starting with the infectious bass, chicken scratch guitar, and chiming harmonies of "I Want You Back," "ABC," and "The Love You Save" it's not surprising how this bubble-gum manna seduced a whole nation. Fronted by 12-year old vocalist Michael, these Indiana siblings also found chart success with ballads ("I'll Be There," "Never Can Say Goodbye"). Other tracks point to the Jackson 5's extraordinary range covering Jackson Browne ("Doctor My Eyes") and Clyde McPhatter ("Little Bitty Pretty One"), dabbling in fuzz-guitar laden psychedelic soul ("I'll Bet You"), and trafficking in some serious funk ("Get It Together").
Industry Reviews ...A fine place to begin appreciating the soulsters: its 36 tracks include all 20 of their 1969-75 R&B hits... Living Blues (11/01/2001)
