Movie Description Often considered their best, this second Marx Brothers movie revolves around a stolen painting and the sprawling estate of a wealthy dowager who soon finds Chico, Zeppo, Harpo, and, especially, Groucho turning her life upsidedown. Groucho croons his famous "Hooray for Captain Spaulding" and delivers many of his most famous quips in this film based on a play by George S. Kaufman.
Synopsis The Marx Brothers crash a society party and manage to become involved in a case surrounding a stolen painting.
Film Notes The film version of "Animal Crackers" featured the same cast that appeared in the Broadway show.
Industry Reviews "...A riot of verbal highjinks and gleeful absurdism..." Sight and Sound - Geoffrey Macnab (01/01/2001)
Quotations "You're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen, which doesn't say much for you." -- CAPTAIN JEFFREY SPAULDING (Groucho Marx)
"One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got in my pajamas I'll never know." --SPAULDING
