Synopsis
This thrilling historical romance is set in England and France, during the blood-soaked era of the French Revolution. Jack Fortescu, Duke of St. Jules, is seeking revenge for his sister's death, methodically ruining his foe, Frederick Lacey, the Earl of Dunston, at the card table. When Lacey recklessly puts up his entire estate as a stake and loses, he commits suicide, leaving everything--including the guardianship of Lacey's beautiful sister Arabella--to Jack. Jack, intent on fulfilling his revenge against her brother to its utmost, offers her a choice: marry him or vacate her home. Since the alternative is abject poverty, Arabella agrees to wed Jack, little suspecting how soon this marriage of convenience will turn to love.
