Album Notes Personnel include: Akrobatik (rap vocals); Talib Kweli, Chuck D. A veteran of the Boston underground who first gained attention with a string of quality singles in the late 1990s (as he puts it on the opening track, "I'm from the era when you had to work your hardest to win/A lot of records dropped, never heard the artist again"), Akrobatik returns five years after his acclaimed debut with the long-awaited follow-up, ABSOLUTE VALUE. As always, Ak is on point lyrically but this time around, he benefits from an all-star underground production team (including Illmind, Da Beatminerz, 9th Wonder, Hezekiah, J-Zone, and the late great J Dilla) as well as guest appearances from such big-name MCs as Talib Kweli, Mr. Lif, Little Brother, Freddie Foxxx, and Chuck D.
Industry Reviews 4 stars out of 5 -- Album opener 'A to the K' features Ak's favorite sports metaphors over a menacing beat and may be close to the most perfect thing the Boston MC has ever touched.
