For its second Vagrant Records outing, From Autumn to Ashes sharpens its metal/hardcore edges, churning out blazing guitar riffs and propulsive rhythms amidst the tortured screams of vocalist Benjamin Perri and the more plaintive singing of drummer/vocalist Francis Mark. Given FATA's tight, dynamic percussion, it's no surprise that the group's main songwriter is Mark, who steers every track on ABANDON YOUR FRIENDS with relentless energy. While the Long Island, NY-based band offers up punk-pop melodies and Iron Maiden-like soloing, it also delves into quiet, contemplative passages, making it one of the most intriguing acts in the "screamo" field.
