Movie Description
Survivors of a luxury liner, crowded in a lifeboat, bond and emerge as distinctive, if somewhat familiar, characters--the prim, selfish matron; the rough, shifty workman-- but the survival of each is soon determined by a ruthless evaluation of their abstract value as human beings.
Synopsis
After a luxury liner strikes a left-over mine and sinks, two dozen-plus passengers squeeze into a small lifeboat. The officer in command ultimately must decide who will live and who must be sacrificed for the others' survival. Derived in part from "Souls at Sea," the original British title was "Seven Waves Away." Part of the Columbia Classics Collection.
