Album Notes It has long been a recording industry axiom that every artist should release at least one Christmas album, and this applies to outlaw country stars as much as anyone else. Willie Nelson's entry in the seasonal music stakes features all the traditional tunes you'd expect, from "Away in a Manger" and "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear" to "Silent Night" and "We Wish You a Merry Christmas," as well as the hit he wrote for Roy Orbison, "Pretty Paper." Perhaps unsurprisingly, his well-aged voice and the tasteful backing, courtesy of both Nashville and Nelson veterans, add up to a remarkably affecting experience.
