Album Notes By the time 1968's A NEW GENERATION OF BLUES was recorded, guitarist Alexis Korner had already helped kickstart the British blues boom with his seminal group Blues Incorporated and released several solo albums. You can hear the cumulative experience in his tasty, visceral guitar work, which is the central focus of this album's spare, acoustic-based production. Surrounded by an unusual assortment of instruments--including fiddle, piano, and trombone--he moans a mix of classic covers ("Corinna Corinna," "Sweet Home Chicago") and original tunes in a voice that's somewhere between Bert Jansch's throaty quaver and John Hammond's raspy howl, displaying a quirky, wholly original style--a rarity in blues from any locale.
