The eclectic indie guitarist and singer David Grubbs collaborates with musicians including the keyboardist Matmos and the cellist Nikos Veliotis on this absorbing and often musically adventurous set. The collection of finely honed ensemble pieces includes "Magnificence As Such," sonic experiments such as "Rosie Ruiz" and "Coda (Breathing)," the impressionistic, raga-like "Pangolin," and the meditative "Wave Generators" the latter's lyrics written by the novelist Rick Moody.
