Album Notes Personnel: Kip Hanrahan (vocals, shekere); Jack Bruce (vocals, bass); Allen Toussaint (piano); Clem Clemson (guitar); Andy Gonzalez (acoustic bass); Steve Swallow (electric bass); Anton Fier, Ignacio Berroa, Bruce Gary (drums); Milton Cardona (congas, quinto, shekere); Giovanni Hidalgo (congas, quinto); Daniel Ponce (congas); Charles Neville (percussion). Recorded in 1984 & 1985. Recorded in the mid-'80s, this brief, five-song EP collects songs that sidestep Kip Hanrahan's usually larger scale undertakings. His band at the time (hear also DAYS AND NIGHTS OF BLUE LUCK INVERTED) was performing live regularly. With the idea of treating short songs as their own entities (like singles), they would go into the studio and record between dates. When the two electric bassists in your band are Jack Bruce and Steve Swallow, with the former also serving as featured vocalist, you'd be advised to get into the studio at any opportunity. Allen Toussaint is also on hand as pianist for one song, while Hanrahan's usual dazzling percussionists (with Milton Cardona on congas throughout) give the set its unity.
