For those not in the market for the anthology box CITIZEN DAN, this comprehensive 14-song collection will do quite nicely. All bases are covered, from the albums CANT BUY A THRILL to GAUCHO: the three AM hits ("Reeling In The Years," "Do It Again" and "Rikki Don't Lost That Number") plus FM favorites such as "Hey Nineteen" and "Peg" as well as "F.M.", a rare opus from the forgotten movie of the same name. What is readily apparent here is that Donald Fagen and Walter Becker set high musical and lyrical standards from the very first and maintained them throughout the decade in question. Speaking of standards, these tracks have been remastered from "original first generation masters," so the sound is first-rate.
