Album Notes This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. Gaither Vocal Band: Bill Gaither, Guy Penrod, David Phelps, Russ Taff. This is part of Springhouse Records "Gaither Gospel" series. A CAPELLA was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Southern, Country, Or Bluegrass Gospel Album. This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. Though Bill Gaither is generally known for helming big productions of worship music, with choir, full band, and all the trimmings, this album is on the other end of the sonic spectrum. Along with the other three members of his vocal band, Gaither strips things down as far as they can go on the self-explanatory A CAPPELLA. In the tradition of great gospel vocal ensembles like the Jordanaires and the Swan Silvertones, the Gaither Vocal Band relies strictly on the interaction of their own voices to provide their music. The complex harmonies utilized by Gaither and company are admittedly a bit more wide-ranging than the aforementioned classic groups, encompassing classical and jazz harmonic notions, in addition to the traditional gospel harmony style. Regardless of the mode, the Gaither Vocal Band's talent is as immediately evident as their commitment to the faith about which they sing.
