This 2004 set of well-known tunes from the legendary Norteno combo Los Tigres del Norte is filled with the kind of songs that this band has built its reputation on for more than three decades. Some of these songs convey of a sense of longing, while others celebrate the working life of Mexican immigrants in the United States, and others are romantic ballads performed in the band's own inimitable style. The collection 20 NORTENAS FAMOSAS leads off with the jaunty "La Jaula de Oro," which boasts a sprightly beat, and quickly segues into the waltz time of "Pro Que Me Quite del Vicio." The regret-laden "Asomate a Mi Copa" is a down-tempo highlight, while "El Nino y la Boda" tells its tale to a familiar Norteno rhythm. Los Tigres del Norte's tradition of combining storytelling with irresistible dance music continues unabated with this dynamic album.
