Movie Description
The story of the Sicilians' revolt against the King of Naples' troops in the Battle of Calatafimi, 1860. A sweeping epic, and an important film that influenced such later directors as Visconti and Rossellini.
Synopsis
A precursor of Italy's neo-realist cinema, the film depicts the 19th century conquest of Sicily by Garibadi, but seen through the eyes of peasants.
